Week 2; Reflection

Speed edit video to be found on my facebook page!

So many ways the word reflection can be interpreted, I chose one of the more literal ones.

I took a variety of pictures; all showing a very different reflection on myself. It was strangely this one that called out to me before editing. When I spotted my face in the right side of the mirror in another shoot, looking straight into the lens, I knew I had to use it along side this one. I'm sure a lot of people won't notice this little detail, but I feel it shows another reflection of yourself.

I had this mirror at home; it was bought from a charity shop while I was at university and is clearly battered and well-loved. I took it with me to an abandoned farm building; which clearly was left in rush. Still a hat hung on a peg, covered in cobwebs. I managed to wedge the mirror to the wall using the vines that were actually causing the wall to fall apart and use the angle of the camera to disguise it from view.

I'm sure you can all relate to the amount of self-reflection we are forced into from society. Reflect on your body, reflect on your career chooses, reflect on your childhood, on your mistakes, on your social media likes, on the way your hair looks, on the spots on your face. Reflect on it and compare it to every other Tom, Dick or Harry, even though they are doing the exact same thing.

Reflection is so important; but try not have an all or nothing approach. Reflect with construct and remember you can only change your future action, not those that have already happened. Mistakes happen, that does not mean you have to give up.

Shot using;

Canon 60D (they don't sell this anymore but the Canon 80D is the current alternative)

Edited using;

Listening to;

Sleeping At Last bring such peace and purity to music. Most of this song is instrumental, but if you wait and hold out for the beautiful lyrics, you won't regret it.

'The universe was made just to be seen by my eye. How lucky we are to even exist'
